First Timer's League Weekly Recap Grandpa Levs finally breaks through for first win of 2021 at Jack's Place   Grandpa Levs is a grinder. He's been hunting W's since 2016 and, apart from his rookie season, has won at least one event in each of the following year. He's been getting very comfortable off his consistent annual fantasy salary as his career earnings now top $274.    Grandpa had never had a Top 3 at the Memorial entering last week and he was envious to shake Jack's hand off 18 green following Sunday's round. He sat in comfort as he watched the playoff ensue as he had both Cantlay and Collin so he was assured a windfall of fedexcup points.    With the win Grandpa captured his 6th career win. His position in the standings so far this year has not been reflective of his career consistency and so work remains to make up ground, and cash, before the season closes out in 12 weeks time.   "Sometimes the fantasy golfing gods just send a smile your way and the stars align, on my roster that is" Grandpa said. "I'm just glad to get this title back into the family as my son, Vegas, won it back in '19 so the trophy is back where it belongs." Despite a tough year in the standings so far he does have 7 Top 10s which is respectable. Another win would ensure 2021 was a successful season.    Bushwood Slicer is making moves as he carded his second runner-up finish in 3 weeks with a solo 2nd at Jack's Place. He's gotta be thinking what do I have to do to get the W. It can't be far off for Bushwood.    GreenJacket - son of Bushwood - finished right behind Dad with his 2nd Top 3 and 9th Top 10 of the year. He really turned things around this spring where he will finish at least 10 spots better than he did in the winter.    Bmerk has been clawing his way up the standings for quite some time and reached his highest position in 2 months - now in 4th overall. 617 to 616 climbed into 6th overall - his highest spot since week 5. Kikakee got a much needed Top 10 - his 6th of the year. Gophers tied Halve Ouimet for most Top 10s on the season with 11 - both will be locked in a battle for Top 10 dominancy over the summer. Sugar Hill snagged his 6th Top 10 but is still looking for that elusive Top 3 this season. HollySandersOldFace got his 7th Top 10 overall and 6th of the spring - he's really turned it on as the wether has warmed. And ByeBye Birdie continues to be the hot shot of the spring with her segment leading 7th Top 10 (8th overall). It all comes down to this!   With one week left to play in the Spring Segment the lead that seemed insurmountable for Kings Deer is all of a sudden within reach for ByeBye Birdie, a long reach at least.   While Kings Deer had a rough week, ByeBye Birdie carded her 7th Top 10 of the Spring Segment and closed the gap from 204 points to 117 points in a last ditch effort to catch Kings. It's still a steep climb however as Kings has a comfortable cushion and essentially just needs to ensure a full roster makes it into the weekend. Experience will certainly play to his favor as he'll almost surely draft conservatively which puts the onus on ByeBye Birdie to play aggressively.    They'll duel it out this week at the inaugural Palmetto Championship, along with Going4theGreensboro who's the dark dark horse at 142 points back. Crazier things have happened as we could see another cut line blood bath that drastically shakes up the leaderboard at the 11th hour. STAT OF THE WEEK   Consistency over the course of the segment means you're going to be in the hunt down the stretch. Collecting Top 10s is the best way to stay relevant and, along with a bevy of Top 3s, being a leader in this cateogry ensures you'll be in the conversation for any segment championship. THIS WEEK wraps up the Spring Segment as the 13th event of the spring will feature a final showdown for the segment championship.    This week's event was slated to be the RBC Canadian Open north of the border but with those wily Canadians still in lockdown due to Covid the Tour had to stay local. And so the Palmetto Championship in Ridgeland, SC will be held for the first time - which means there's no defending champion this week. The course is said to imitate the Sandbelt tracks of southeast Australia so something to consider.   There's no reason not to use up player starts at this point as the Summer Segment will reset starts back to 3. And then the final sprint for the Jackson Cup will kick off in a big way with the US Open as the opening event of the summer.   The Summer Segment is by far the highest paying segment with a slew of top dollar tournaments throughout it's 11 week tenure.
