First Timer's League Weekly Recap Bushwood Slicer Wins Palmetto Championship   The betting line in Vegas prior to the Palmetto Championship had a clear favorite. And after the hot hand that Bushwood Slicer had been playing for near a month it came as no surprise that he was in the final group on Sunday with a chance to win. But having been here before the only thing left to do was close.   Never substituting once, Bushwood  was confident that his squad could get the job done. His starters played well for him - the sign of a good team manager - and he collected valuable scoring, bonus and fedexcup points. It looked as though Bushwood might share the win with Bag Lady but a late scoring adjustment tipped the scales in Bushwood's favor and he came out of the fray victorious, finally.    Bushwood had a runner up finish the prior week and a runner up at the PGA just 3 weeks ago. He was due. And he now has his sought after first career win on fantasy tour along with his first paycheck. He's moving up the season leaderboard as well and now sits in 4th place after a career week.  TOP 10 FINISH Bag Lady nearly played spoiler on Sunday as she came as close as anyone has come this season without winning. A margin of just 2 points separated her from her maiden victory but it will have to wait. Plenty for fantasy golf to play for the Bag Lady.   Gophers snagged his league leading 12th Top 10 and is looking for a fresh start to the summer segment after a lackluster spring.    GreenJacket had the second best segment over segment change at 55% - going from 23rd in the winter to 6th in the spring. He's primed for some fun in the sun.    617 to 616 is pressing all the right buttons except for that elusive "win tournament" button. Odds suggest he'll find it before the season is up. Grippin&Rippin had an unfortunate slip that caused him to have a worse spring that winter despite having 3 more Top 10s in the spring. You can't miss a week in this racket - it's a season killer.  OffConstantly snagged his 4th Top 10 of the season and pretty much had the same kind of segment he did in the winter - bottom of the barel. A concerted effort in the summer could turn things around.    Reed's Rule Book gained ground off the back of his 10th Top 10. He still needs a win though which is priority #1 at the moment.   ByeBye Birdie arguably had the best spring segment statistically and nearly caught the leader in the 11th hour. She's gained on season leader Halve Ouimet considerably though and starts the summer off with aspirations of taking the top spot.   Kikakee Tees rounds out the Top 10 with his 7th on the season. He's looking forward to the final two majors and FedexCup playoffs where he has a strong track record.  His spring reign continues as Kings Deer wins the Spring Segment in consecutive seasons.    After 13 long weeks of gutsy fantasy play Kings Deer has claimed the Spring Segment crown and adds yet another title to his growing fantasy trophy case.    Entering the final week he had just one task in front of him: fend off the charging ByeBye Birdie by ensuring he had a full roster on the weekend. And thanks to a 2nd round 3-under from Sungjae Im who made the cut on the number he got his full squad and was assured the championship.     This is Kings Deer's 3rd segment title in his near 6 years on fantasy tour, and his second consecutive Spring title. He adds a cool $60 to the war chest with this championship and now leads the league in season earnings.  As Kings Deer nears $800 in career earnings the only team ahead of him is Gophers ($917). The question is: Who will break $1,000 first? STAT OF THE WEEK   An interesting trend of top ranked teams who are without a win has emerged as 6 of the Top 10 teams are title-less. They've got 11 more weeks  to buck this trend. As the US Open rolls around the 3rd and final segment of the 2021 fantasy season kicks off. The first paycheck is a big one so don't leave anything on the table in the draft room. Torrey Pines will be the host course and look for the rough to be thick, Brooks to play well, Phil to try and close out his career grand slam and Tiger to be wishing he was still in 2008.    Between June 17 and September 5 there are 11 tournaments. Not only will this be your best opportunity to make some cash each week but the season race is anybody's for the taking as things tighted up in standings following last week's result.   This is the time of the year where the marathon turns more into a sprint.
