A Breakthrough Win For Sugar Hill!   The wait is finally over for 2nd year veteran Sugar Hill as the opening 48 weeks of his fantasy golf career without a win have come to a close. The forecasters weren't predicting the win to come at this junkture in the season as he hadn't even scored a Top 3 finish to date. But miracles do happen as Sugar Hill seemingly came out of nowhere to clench his first title.   The win came on the back of a rogue pick. Sugar Hill was looking for some magic, or divine intervention, as he extended his roster pick to the 114th placer in the world Lucas Glover. The journeyman golfer isn't an unknown entity at these events but you'd probably need a crystal ball to put a bet on him to win. But Sugar took a chance and rolled the dice on Glover, coming big with a breakthrough win.   With the win he also collects the $10 bonus for picking the dark horse winner (players outside the top 50 in the official world golf rankings who win the tournament). With the payday Sugar Hill collects a coold $35 and sets himself up to push even higher entering the most lucrative part of the season.   "I spoke to Lucas' agent's friend's housekeeper before the John Deere" Sugar Hill said. "I told her to pass on a the message that I was counting on him this week. I needed my first win and he needed his first win since 2011. Clearly he got the message." TOP 10 FINISH The late point update struck again as Grandpa Levs thought he might get away with one but a the final score after fedex cup points were added relegated Grandpa into 2nd. Still, it's his 3rd Top 3 and 10th Top 10 and he's back in the race for the segment title.   GreenJacket played his heart out on Sunday at TPC Deere Run. Subbing nearly every round he chased his way to a 3rd place finish, his 3rd Top 3 of the season. He's now set his sights on the summer championship and is just 50 points back. He's also moved into the overall Top 10 for the first time this season.     Vegas Vito came up just 2 points shy of a Top 3 finish but will settle for his 9th Top 10. He's feeling good entering the Open Championship where he's ranked 6th in the power rankings.   Grippin&Rippin has put together 4 Top 10s in his last 5 events and carded his 14th Top 10 overall last week. He's focused on one thing and one thing only at this point which is the summer segment title and he's just 48 points back.  The perennial surprise contender Bag Lady showed up last week with a roster that was there to play. She strolled in with 6 Top 10s and strolled out with 7. Tidy work for the 29th place team. She's still looking for her first paycheck though and something tells me it's not far off. Gophers keeps the Top 10 train rolling with his league leading 15th and 6th in his last 7 apperances. He's moving up the leaderboard for the season and now sits in 3rd after jumping up 3 positions.    Tourball got in the house with an 8th place finish and his 6th Top 10 of the year. While he's not waiting around for his first win of the season which came in week 16 he is looking to pad his earnings with some of the $370 available to him in the final events of this segment.    No 3 Putts Ever managed his 8th Top 10 of the year but it's just his first since back-to-back Top 3s 6 weeks ago. Of his 8 Top 10s this was only his 3rd non-Top 3 finish. Which means 5 of his Top 10s were also Top 3s.    Reed's Rule Book continued playing his hot hand as he collected his 13th Top 10 and moved into first place overall. It's a big deal for Reed's as he was called out the previous week for not capitalizing on opportunity after opportunity to capture the lead. His answer was clear: "Come at me bro!" The 23-week reign of Halve Ouimet came to an end on Sunday as Reed's Rule Book picked up 12 points on the commish, trading a 5 point deficit for a 7 point lead. The race continues to heat up as the season front runners keep packing themselves into the 100 point space between 5th and 1st.    Entering the final 7 weeks of the season it looks like the Race for the Jackson Cup will come down the wire as it's sure to be a photo finish at the current frenzied pace.  Ladies and gentlemen: the 149th playing of The Open Championship.   Commonly referred to as the British Open, the Open Championship is perhaps the second most coveted title on the PGA Tour. Those who qualify tend to cross the pond a couple weeks ahead of time and often play in the Scottish Open as a warm-up of sorts. Then there are those who play state-side the week prior in a last ditch effort to qualify. However, due to Covid requirments many who qualified declined to go as was the case with Kevin Na and Ryan Moore last week.    As is the case in all majors it'll be a who's who of big names to chose from for your perfect squad. The choice is a tough one for the fantasy manager as there's starts to save but points to scoop up. Will Rory play well? Will an American win the Claret Jug? Should you really have him on your roster and shouldn't you second guess why you picked him in the first place the night before? Can David Duval make the cut? The answer to all but one of these questions is No.   The first Open to be held at Royal St. George's took place in 1894. J.H. Taylor was the third Englishman to win the Claret Jug and first to win it on English soil as the 1894 edition was the first to be held outside of Scotland.
