It was a weekend of fireworks both on and off the golf course as Labor Day rung in the final weekend of summer while the "boys of perpetual summer" gave a fiery performance at TPC Boston.
Jordan Spieth tried for a second week in a row to snag a FedExCup victory but was denied yet again, this time by his good bud Justin Thomas. And for the fantasy gamers who were savvy enough to still have starts left with both of them they scooped up mucho bonus points, leaving others in the dust.
Dell Technologies Championship
Baby Draw is making quite the name for himself in Boston as he becomes the first team in 2017 to successfully defend his title! He made two perfectly timed subs, JT in the 3rd and Spieth in the 4th to ensure his bonus points, and cruised to his 3rd title of 2017 by a margin of only 6 points.
Notable Performances
To add even more mystique to last the Dell Tech Championship, not only did Baby Draw successfully defend his title but Where Eagles Dare also finished runner-up once again for the second year in a row! Eagles came up short by 10 points in 2016 and then a mere 6 points this year. It's a frustrating finish for Eagles despite the second place payout as he clearly feels comfortable at this course. Despite leaving a few points on the bench he played it about as well as he possibly could have. In the end Baby Draw just outgunned him. But it's a solid finish for Eagles nonetheless as he now has 12 Top 10s, 3 Top 3s and 1 win for the season. He's currently in 11th place and has a shot to finish inside the overall top 10 with two more solid finishes over the final weeks.
Despite Niblick 18 being listed as a pre-tournament favorite with a power rank of 7th the fantasy media all but wrote him off before it began. It was a gross oversight on their part as the rookie trounced expectations and nearly won the whole thing. It was a brilliant performance overall but he went chasing the lower round in his A group and missed out of scores that could have won him the tournament. It's his 10th Top 10 and 3rd Top 3 of 2017 with a win in there as well. Solid opening season for the rook.
Race for the Jackson Cup
Can you feel the tension in the air right now? It's so thick you couldn't even cut it with a knife. What we are beholding is nothing less than fantasy golf drama at its best. With just two weeks to go the Race for the Jackson Cup is a horse race with three contenders just about dead even. First place Short Strokes entered the playoffs with a 100 point advantage but it has been axed away to nearly nothing as Kikakee Tees and That's Wet have done some serious pruning. All three teams are now jockeying for position in a relentless race for every single point and as the number of starts left with the big boys dwindles there's a huge question mark over their next roster decisions.

With only two weeks left it's going to be a vicious cock fight for final position. Any misstep could prove deadly. Every sub will be made with the utmost care. With the Jackson Cup and $185 on the line no one can afford an error. It's go time and the BMW Championship is next on the docket.

2 Footer put the peddle to the metal a few weeks ago and hasn't taken it off yet. But despite his rubber burning ways he hasn't been able to put as much room between himself and the field as he'd like. That's Wet has been shredding his tires bald in pursuit of the leader, averaging just north of 200 points per tournament over the last 3 weeks. Only Baby Draw is averaging over 200 points in the same stretch and he's red hot right now. Only 5 points separates 2 Footer from That's Wet for the Summer Segment lead and both are trying to win their first ever segment title and the riches that accompany it.
There's a dark horse in this race that can't be written off just yet and she's been creeping up the leaderboard very stealthily. Whiny Little Pitch is 57 points back of the leader and has an outsider's chance of making up that ground in 2 weeks. It's totally feasible but will depend on her ability to start players that the Foot and That's Wet aren't be able to. This is her make or break week as she's either made up ground and is right in the thick of it or she's remained stagnant and effectively out of the race.
BMW Championship Preview
Next week is the penultimate event on the PGA Tour as the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Chicago is next. Because of the unique format of the FedExCup Playoffs this event mirrors that of a major championship somewhat for fantasy teams. Only the cream of the crop have advanced this far and the field is fairly elite. The main difference between this tournament and a major though is how late in the season it is, indicating a low number of starts left with key players. And so a huge value will be placed on picking the 2nd tier stud who might not be a favorite but might rise to the occasion. Baby Draw is the defending champ yet again and if he were able to pull off another successful defense he would solidify his status as the greatest playoff performer in First Timers League history.
There's so much on the line this week it's hard to keep track. 2 Footer is battling for a segment championship and a paid position inside the overall Top 5. Oblazabong and Talkeetna have a shot to gain ground and finish with paid positions as well but it'll take something miraculous. Short Strokes is trying to become the first back-to-back Jackson Cup winner but his two chasers have tasted blood. There's still two $23 paychecks for the final week's winners so padding your season earnings is also on the to-do list. It's go time as we've entered the home stretch of this marathon season so don't let off the gas now.
