It would appear that the Commish is living up to his team's name as he took advantage of the new course layout at Doral and won the WGC by 10 points becoming the first team to capture 3 tournament wins and truly is - for the moment at least - Better Than Most. Only 3 golfers finished under par so it became a case of the last man standing on dry land as the Blue Monster consumed more golf balls than Carl's last round of 9. Bubba Watson, the highest ranked finisher for the league, took the field for 5 of 12 teams last week and didn't make his move until the final round by shooting a 4-under 68. He was the only player to earn bonus points for any team by finishing in 2nd and was the horse of choice for all top 3 finishers. Baby Draw had a 2 point lead going into the final round but, for the second week in a row, the dark horse pick of Sergio Garcia turned out to be the difference maker. Better Than Most rode Sergio's 3-under 14-point final round to a 10 point victory over Baby Draw who decided to bench Serg throughout. A final round substitution of Sergio for Walker would have gotten Baby Draw a 4 point victory but it was not to be and Better Than Most cruised to victory with the help of the two Johnsons and the young Canadian DeLaet. Freeside Links rounds out the top-3 by finishing with a 158, earning his 4th top-3 finish and becomes the highest ranked player in that category without a win.

The Artist formerly known as Your Name Here, formerly known as Killn Tasty Bitches, formerly known as Phish Stixs now known as Stuff Your Sorries in a Sack Mr. reclaimed lost ground by finishing in respectable 4th place last week and moves into 2nd place overall. His frequent and schizophrenic name changes seem to be something of a good luck charm for him but it will take more than luck to maintain his standing throughout the long season still ahead.
The last minute withdraw of Jason Day caught several teams by surprise last week as Stuff your sorries, The Bull, Papa Gino, Jowls and Night Putting had to undergo damage control to not lose too much ground. Only Stuff avoided a full round loss by putting Day on the bench early (assuming that Papa Gino has no idea that Day was on his bench anyway since he apparently hasn't updated his roster since 1998).
The gap between the top 5 teams and the bottom 7 is starting to spread as only 98 points separates 1st from 5th but there is an 89 point spread between 5th and 6th. While things remain tight at the top it will be a struggle to move into contention if that gap continues to grow.
Fairway to Heaven finished out of the top 3 for the first time in 5 weeks after a disappointing 9th place finish. Call it bad luck but 10 of his 16 starter's rounds were worse than the rounds of his players on the bench. Timely substitution could have kept him in contention but it was a tough week to predict any given players round with accuracy.
This week is the Valspar Championship and the dreaded Snake Pit of Innisbrook's Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, FL.
