A big monkey off the back for the 6th year veteran Show & Dough as she captured her first career FedExCup Playoff title with a big win at the BMW Championship. She was stareing an earnings goose egg right in the face with just two weeks to go and so she dug deep to pull this one out of the bag and fended off rookie of the year candidate ByeBye Birdie in the effort. It's the high water mark in 2020 for the Show as this win marks her 7th Top 10 and 2nd Top 3. It also sets a personal record for her as it marks the most she's earned in a single season in her 6 year tenure. The tournament payday adds $50 to her bank account ($55 total) and she's now collected 3.73% of the season purse (2.23% avg league-wide) putting her in the top 20% of earners so far this year. Top 3 Finishers
In her rookie campaign ByeBye Birdie's star has shown brightly as she's accumulated $70 in earnings (4th), 2 wins (T2), 3 Top 3s (T7) and 8 Top 10s (T11). She was nudged out at the BMW by just 6 points but collected $15 with the runner-up finish. ByeBye stumbled a bit in the Race for the Jackson Cup, falling back to 15th currently after going toe-to-toe with the then-leader GreenJacket for several weeks. She's already planning her offseason fantasy workout to prep for 2021.
Driving Mrs. Daisy is making the most out of a lackluster second half of 2020 as she collected her first paycheck since February with a $5 payout ($30 total - just below league average). She's trying to regain the groove that got her a win in Phoenix earlier this year but until Sunday she was at a loss. It's just her second Top 3 so this season and is well below her single average of 5. But with a shortened season it's
fairly on par. Daisy will look to Atlanta for one more strong finish to top off her 2020 earnings.
Notables
DontHassletheHoff missed out on his first Top 3 finish by a single point and he missed his best shot at a payday before 2020 ends. It's his highest finish since a 4th place finish in week 6 at Pebble Beach but this one has to sting a bit more. He's by far the best team without a Top 3 and will look to the Tour Championship for one last shot at a paycheck before 2020 closes out.
Summer segment stud Grandpa Levs is second to none in his effort to win his first career segment title as he's gone 5-for-5 in Top 10s so far - winning big at the season's only major in the PGA Championship. he holds a thin margin over Kings Deer who's done his own steam rolling this year. If Grandpa can hold off the (almost) certain Jackson Cup winner it'll be a feat in itself. His 5th place finish last week was crucial in that effort as Kings finished in 10th.
Nick Hoffman needed a high finish last week to keep his hopes for a second place finish alive and he got just that as he locked down the 6th position and gained ground on fellow rookie GreenJacket. In his first year Hoffman has put together a ridy little season with 13 Top 10s (1st), 4 Top 3s (T4) and $30 in earnings (T13). As he looks to hold onto 2nd place and the $90 payout he's sitting in good position to content for rookie of the year.
Final Showdown - Tour Championship
The final event of the season pitts the year's best 30 players against each other with the season long points leaders getting an advantage of several strokes to start the event. This means that it'll be foolish to not pick the leaders like DJ, Rahm, JT and Webb. But this means that you've got to have at least one start left for these guys in order to keep pace. However with so many teams jammed into this narrow field it'll be the dark horse rounds and a perfectly subbed roster to rise to the top.
Talkeetna98 is the defending champ this week at East Lake and he'll need a comfort level factor on his side as he looks for his first win of 2020 and looks to avoid his first ever winless season in 6 years on fantasy tour.
There's 8 teams who have been stymied in the earnings department and they'll have their last shot to get on the board with a Top 3 this week. Nearly half the field has a shot to surpass the $50 earnings mark if they can manage to win or finish in the money.
Reeds is going to need a high finish (5th or higher) if he wants a shot at finishing inside the Top 5. Kikakee will need to maintain his 30 point advantage if he hops to remain in the money and even has plans to leap frog into 4th if he can best Vegas Vito by 23 points or higher.
For everyone else who's looking for one more shot at changing the narrative of 2020 the Tour Championship is your last chance. Time to be bold and field a roster that's just so crazy it might work.
