There was very little to be displeased about as the US Open drew to a close on Sunday. Sure, some may have wanted to see Brooksy accomplish the improbable three-peat and jump on the announcers both waving the trophy like Michael Jordan in 1998. But there were few out there that were more deserving of the championship than Woodland. With a cool head and calm approach he held the 54 hole lead all day and fended off his competition to win his first major and 5th career tournament.
The story to his first major championship on the fantasy tour was a bit different for Driving Elderick. The most notable similarity between himself and Woodland is that neither were among the favorites entering the week. But the underdog would prevail and a major championship was the reward. Like Woodland, Elderick fended off a formidable fantasy athlete as Feeside Linkswas hot on his tail. A 3 time major champion himself, Feeside was the favorite entering Sunday. But after a Herculean effort in which Elderick left everything he had on the craggy cliffs of Pebble he scrapped out the win by a single point. It's just his 3rd Top 3 of the year but second win as he was victorious in the inaugural event. Congrats Driving Elderick.
The Summer Segment is underway and, with it, the final push for the Jackson Cup. There's plenty of cash to be doled out in the next 10 weeks with one more WGC and the year's final major - The Open Championship. Gopher's is going to try and sweep the season by winning all three segments and the Jackson Cup but there'll be more than a handful of teams who will try to prevent that from happening. The slate is clean once again for the segment so it's anybody's game.
For those who have not yet paid league dues - please pay up.
