League Updates and Recent Winners - Spring Nears End

Now that summer is officially here in the Northeast it's time for the Spring Segment to wrap up on the Fantasy Tour. There's been lots of happenings over the past several weeks so let's catch up.

Week #17 - Wells Fargo Championship
Freeside Links continued his post-Masters dominance with yet another win in the Southeast by robbing the bank in Charolotte and leaving town with another trophy. He always seems to shine the brightest this time of year.

Week #18 - AT&T Byron Nelson
Whiny Little Pitch pitched in down in Texas to take home her first W of 2019. It took the veteran longer than she would have wanted but she's over the hump and can start to focus on what's most important - defending her title at the US Open next month to make it 3 wins at the national event.

Week #19 - PGA Championship
Despite his complete dominance in the league the past three years Gophers is not one to win a ton of tournaments. But at Bethpage State Park Gophers decided it was time to win not only his first tourney of 2019 but his first career major! It's a big hurtle for the tenured warhorse and marks the final significant challenge of his storied career. He's won segments, WGCs and been league champ twice but he can now call himself a major champion. Congrats Gophers

Week #20 - Charles Schwab Challenge
After over a year's worth of close-but-no-cigars V to the O broke through at the Charles Schwab Challenge to end his winless drought since week 9 of 2018. He won in a big way by edging out the senior Levins who would come in 2nd. Their season rivalry is now even at 1 win apiece.

The Spring Segment is tighter than a snare drum. Gophers is holding onto a 44 point lead over Talkeetna while 2 Footer and Driving Elderick aren't too far behind him. With two weeks to go it's going to be a sprint. It's time to put the peddle to the metal and empty the tank.

The marathon race that his the overall season is starting to show some stretch marks. Gophers has slowly but surely increased his front runner status but no lead is safe with 14 weeks to go. Papa Pilgrim is 223 points back which, as we've seen, can dissipate in a matter of weeks. It'll take a concerted effort to narrow the gap over the next couple months to get in position to challenge him during the month of August.
