A new major champion emerges as Driving Miss Daisy hoists the Wanamaker Trophy

The PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club presented a more exciting spectacle than most iterations of the event. Known for producing the weakest of winners between the four majors, the PGA Championship has never really presented the true test for the world's best golfers. Many past winners just getting hot at the right time or catching lucky breaks tended to main contributors to the tournament's outcome. But the cream certainly rose to the top last week as the big names rose to the occasion and slugged it out over the weekend. Tiger, Brooks, Adam, Rahm, Thomas; they were all in the hunt. And perhaps it was no surprise that arguably the world's most clutch golfer at the moment shut the door on the field to close out his second major in a row. Brooks Keopka doesn't seem to shaken by pressure and he hit clutch shot after clutch shot on Sunday to become the 5th player in history to win both the US Open and PGA Championship in the same season.

And speaking of clutch, in the fantasy world there is a player that is proving her mettle. Driving Miss Daisy has been consistently performing with the best fantasy teams in the world and in just her second year she's proved that she belongs in the ranks of the elite. On Sunday, like Brooks, she slammed the door shut on the field at Bellerive CC as she went on to route her closest competitor by 62 points. With this win Miss Daisy makes the 2018 season her career best. Not only is this her first career major championship but she's now earned $75 (career high) and won her first Segment Championship. Shes one win off her season best which was 2 in 2017. And perhaps the most important metric is that she's currently in 5th place and just 60 points behind the leader. Congrats Driving Miss Daisy.

Race for the Jackson Cup

The Race for the Jackson Cup has turned the corner as the final 5 weeks sprint is about to commence.
This is what it's about. With over 30 weeks of grinding it out the top 5 teams have separated themselves from the pack and each one of them has a legit shot at the cup. In first is none other than That's Wet - a ferocious competitor who's been in this spot before and is hungry to finally lock down the cup. In second place is Whiny Little Pitch who hasn't left the Top 10 since week 13 and has consistently eked up the leaderboard. Then comes 2015 Jackson Cup champ Gophers who's got his sights set on a second engraving of the Jackson Cup with his name on it. In 4th is the relentless Driving Miss Daisy and in 5th is a guy who never thought he'd in this position after a missed week earlier in the season. But Talkeetna98 battled his way back from the deficit and now finds himself just 66 points behind.

Over the final 5 weeks we'll see teams play around with their player selections as the FedEx Cup Playoffs progress. With each successive round the pool of available players will decrease and starts will become even more precious. It will be no surprise to see one of these teams get eliminated from the hunt if they have a bad week. And with Driving Miss Daisy's 100 point gain on That's Wet last week we could see a lead change in any one of the remaining 5 tournaments.

Race for the Summer Segment

In the summer segment race we've got an even closer battle going on as That's Wet is slugging it out with Talkeetna for first. That's Wet leads by 13 points but that kind of lead can disappear in a few minutes on fantasy tour. The cream has really risen to the top over the final segment as the top four players in the summer segment are also in the top 5 for the season (That's Wet, Talkeetna98, Whiny Little Pitch, Gophers). The only one missing is Miss Daisy. V to the O has put together a nice summer segment and claims the 5th spot of the summer so far but at 142 points out first he's simply looking for another payday by winning one of the final weeks.

THIS WEEK is the final week of the regular season. It's the Wyndham Championship where most of the big names take a final week of rest before the playoffs start. But it's a crucial week for the fantasy grinders as it's a chance to make up big points if you pick the right dark horse. Winners tend to pop up out of nowhere here so the rogue pick is more rewarded here than most tournaments during the year. Many of the entries also need to make up points in order to get into the playoffs so looking for a bubble boy might not be a bad idea.

Don't hold anything back now as it's its going to be a do or dye situation with lots more cash, the summer segment and the Jackson Cup all on the line.
