DaHoffa Digs Out Trophy As Dusk Descends on San Diego

The Career Builder Challenge was yet another week where the pro jocks had to go extra innings in order to figure out who got the most money on Sunday. One of the tournament favorites Jon Rahm was in it to win it but would have to go through the short stack Andrew Landry in order to hoist the oversized check. And that's exactly what he did despite Landry's several attempts to close it out for himself. Must have been the nerves.

It hasn't been that long since we last saw this week's fantasy winner on top of the champions podium - the last one coming at the Open Championship. DaHoffa took down the Career Builder Challenge in dramatic fashion with the Jon Rahm on his squad leading the charge. DaHoffa took full advantage of his rookie season one year ago by winning two tournaments with a handful of accolades. He's picking up right where he left off with an early season victory. Congrats DaHoffa!

Second Place

Darth Fader has been on a tear to start the season as he carded his third top 10 in as many tournaments with a runner up finish. The Artist has been anything but consistent over the years but you can't get much more consistent than this to begin a new year. He's been known to make wild picks and snag a victory or two here and there but the wheels tend to come off around late March. We'll see what the horoscope has in store for him in 2018.

Third Place

Talkeetna98 has been strong as well with back-to-back top 10s. It was nearly back-to-back top 3s but his fourth place finish two weeks ago left him one position shy of this mark. He's a perennial fantasy grinder and knows how to do his job on the green carpet. Talkeetna98 hold the special status of reigning Masters Champ and come the first Sunday in April he could be the first First Timer to ever retain the green jacket. Time will tell.

Next Up: Farmers Insurance Open

One of the best courses on the PGA Tour's rota is arguably that of the next event. Torrey Pines is a hallowed course that has proven more than a challenge to many of the heavy weights over time. Just outside of San Diego, the course is a lush inviting arena for shot makers and ball strikers. Prior to Jon Rahm's win last year no first time winner had ever taken down Torrey. And perhaps no player better exemplifies this trend than Tiger Woods with his 7 wins at this course. Tiger will once again be stalking the grounds in search of his comeback victory - a tall ask but not out of the realm of possibility. He's got to be rusty and has been fairly untested in a tournament like this so don't put the kid's college fund on him (although it would probably pay out handsomely). Draft him if you dare and sit back to enjoy the majority of on air coverage going to him. He's back in the spotlight and the golf world can't get enough of him.
