DaHoffa & Four Skins Split The Open - Four Skins Goes On To Repeat At RBC

The last two weeks on Fantasy Tour have been eventful but more so for one player in particular. After the Open Championship came down to the wire in which DaHoffa and Four Skins split the Claret Jug, Four Skins went on to churn up the competition in Canada and has now won back-to-back titles which is a very hard trick to turn in this league. The rookie Four Skins was having a lackluster season before this whirlwind of success befell him (he's now appearing on late night TV and has been seen at many A-list parties in Boston's Southie neighborhood). DaHoffa is on the other side of the spectrum as he's atop the summer leaderboard and has a narrow mid-segment lead of 15 points. 

It caught most everyone by surprise when DaHoffa and Four Skins split the Claret Jug. Only one other time in league history has a major championship been split, happening back at the 2014 Masters when Papa Pilgrim and MR. SLUMAN tied. Perhaps it was having to share the spotlight that spurred Four Skins on at the RBC Canadian Open as he was hungry for a full title. Four Skins wasn't able to improve his spot in the standings off these two wins as he's already committed to a schedule that allows for generous amounts of time off at his vacation home in Bermuda. But following these two wins his fantasy bank account has experienced an upsurge so maybe he'll be able to keep the lights on at his Caribbean estate a little while longer. 

RBC Canadian Notables

Whiny Little Pitch is having herself a nice little summer as she's climbed the ranks enough to have a legitimate shot at her first Segment Championship. After this runner-up finish at Glen Eagles she's just 15 points back of front runner DaHoffa and has her best chance yet to capture a big title. Whiny snagged her 10th Top 10 and 4th Top 3 with her finish in Canada and is looking to add a cool $50 to her fantasy back account if she can seal the deal on the summer. 

Gophers is making waves once again as he continues to add to his all-time leading Top 10 record. He got number 53 of his career on Sunday which leads his closest rival in that category by 8 (That's Wet has 45). He's also keeping his eye on the overall standings as he moved up one more spot into 4th which carries with it a $20 payout. It all adds up for Gophers as he looks to collect further fame and fortune. 

Driving Miss Daisy kept pace with the field last week as she collected a 6th place finish and her 12th Top 10 of the year. Miss Daisy is also looking to finish inside the Top 5 teams to collect a final season payout and she's right on the bi-cuspid. A lot can happen in 7 weeks so it will take some savvy drafting and adroit subs to get her to the finish line. 

Halve Ouimet is having his best segment of 2017 and is firmly in the race for the summer championship. He collected his 2nd Top 10 of the summer with a T8 finish and is just 48 points back of DaHoffa. He'll need to put some pressure on the 6 teams in front of him though if he's going to make a stand. 
Race for the Jackson Cup

With only 7 weeks remaining in the 2017 season the race for the Jackson Cup is heating up. After 2 months of maintaining the season lead, Kikakee Tees was overtaken last week by Short Strokes who regains the lead he had back in week 18. This is one of the tighter races we've had in league history as there are currently 3 teams who look like they've got a shot to hoist the trophy. Short Strokes is the reigning champ and knows how to get it done. Kikakee is a seasoned vet who just took down the Spring Segment for his first Segment title. And Jose Maria Oblazabong, current Winter Segment Champ, is 70 points back of Short Strokes. He's going to have to start making up ground immediately to give himself a shot once the FedExCup Playoffs start. There'll be no rest for these three as every week will determine if they are to remain in the race. The stakes are high: forever having your name engraved on the Jackson Cup is an honor many have chased and few have achieved. Look for the race to heat up even more come in the final 7 weeks. 

Remaining Schedule

The final 7 weeks of tournament play are the most lucrative weeks in the entire season. With only 1 remaining regular payout tournament left there are 6 tournaments with elevated payout structures. This week is the WGC-Bridgestone which will test everyone's draft strategy as only the top 60 players will be invited (how many starts do you have left with DJ?). Then the year's final major - the PGA Championship - takes center stage. The Wyndham Championship is then played with the Playoffs immediately following the week after that. 

If there was any time to step up your fantasy game then now is the time. Now is the time to pull out all the stops. No more holding players back. It does you no good to have 1 start left with Jordan after you'd been saving him all season. Now is the time to get that long awaited victory that has eluded you. Now is the time to pad your stats and get a few more Top 10s and Top 3s. After all, fantasy golf hall of fame careers don't just happen by themselves. And of course there's plenty of money still on the table - $264 in tournament and Segment payouts still to be won. Not to mention the season payouts to 1st - 5th. Now is the time to make your move. 

NEXT UP is the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational where the world's top 60 players will go head to head in a tournament with no cut. Most teams are probably having to make decisions now about who to start and who to save but several teams have budgeted players judiciously and could start DJ in almost every week remaining. With precious bonus points on the line determining who will win money and who will be struggling to make next month's rent it's very important to have the winner on your roster.
