As the FedExCup Playoffs get underway it's BevGin&Tonic who captures first season win

The Barclays

The FedExCup Playoffs are underway and surprises would abound as a first time winner kicked things off at Bethpage State Park for the Barclays. As if he was biding his time all season long, BevGin&Tonic waited for the perfect time to strike. He'd only managed to make it into the Top 3 one time prior to this and that was on a big stage to at the WGC Cadillac Championship. Somehow he managed to get the job done after missing a substitution in the 2nd round when he got 0 points for Stenson. Luckily for him though he was one of the few with Patrick Reed and he rode him all the way home. With one of the lower winning scores of the season (162), he cruised to his first championship of 2016 and 2nd title of his career.

Race for the Jackson Cup

When historians look back on the 2016 season they'll say this is where Short Strokes made his stand. After an opening round salvo from Michelson, Short Strokes found his lead had been cut to 56 points. It served as a wake up call for Short Strokes as he kicked things into high gear at that point going 48, 34, 32 in point totals for Fri-Sun. By the time the dust had settled he had stretched his lead over Michelson by 30 points and now sits in first with just 3 weeks to go and a whopping 100 point lead. It's not a done deal (Short Strokes is running out of starts with his superstars) but Michelson would need to make up over 30 points per week through the final 3 tournaments. An outcome so crazy it just might work.

Summer Segment Race

While the point differential widened for Short Strokes in the season race it got a little tighter in the segment duel. DaHoffa has been slowly making up ground on the entire field and has actually risen in the standings almost every tournament since week 10 when he was ranked 25th. He now sits in 6th for the season and 2nd in the segment with just 50 points separating him from Short Strokes and a Segment Title. However, with just 3 weeks to go he'll have to turn on the jets if he wants to stay in the race. Depending on how things go at the Deutsche Bank we could be looking at a showdown come the final week in Atlanta.

Earnings

Michelson still maintains her lead atop the money leaderboard but Short Strokes has set himself up to take the top position if he can close things out for the season and segment. Several teams are on the bubble in terms of cracking the $40 mark and with $91 being handed out in the final three tournaments there's plenty of opportunity to increase your cash payout at the end of the season. 

Jackson Cup Invitational & Cookout

As the season end approaches that means two things - football season is near and the First Timers League is hosting it's annual Jackson Cup Invitational Golf Tournament. 

Tourney Players

This year the field is looking strong as the likes of Papa Pilgrim, Hogan's Heros, Tiger Would Putt, Jowls, Baby Draw and more will be teeing it up at Hyannis Golf Club on Saturday, October 8th for the 3rd installment of the end-of-season tournament. Tee times start at 10am (only 2 more spots left of the tournament but all are welcome to the cookout - RSVP if coming). 

Players will be grouped into teams of 4 based on skill so it's sure to be a knock-down drag-out brawl to the end. Hogan's Heros has been the anchor of the last two winning teams so he's got a target on this back this year. Entry fee is $20 plus greens fees for the tournament and $15 for cookout expenses. 

The cookout kicks off at 4pm at Pilgrim Village in Chatham. Festivities include horseshoes, ping pong, hit-the-row-boat chip shot competition, and season prizes. First hole tee shots will be filmed and compiled into end of the season video.
