Dark Horse Tour Ball Comes From Behind to Claim Fame at Pebble

In a tournament that's sure to get lots of laughs from the celebrity field there was actually a good amount of surprise as the favored fantasy finishers were upset and ousted out from the top. While Bill Murray made the rounds with the gallery and it would be a dark horse who had the last laugh. It started with current hot shot The Gophers courageously staking his claim at the top - daring anyone to take it from him. After winning the previous week he had a boat load of confidence going into the AT&T National Pro-Am. But an implosion on Sunday would cost him.Hogan's Heros was there as well but also fell back due to roster mismanagement in the 4th. Many of the familiar faces were vying for the win on the final day but a dark horse had already emerged. 

TourBall came onto the scene early in the week and lingered near the top for most of the weekend. Just the week before TourBall failed to send a full roster into battle for the second time this season and ended up with a dropped score. It seems he only comes out to hunt when there is big game afoot. His aim was true and he was throwing darts for most of the tournament. Only making one substitution all week - the one that would win it for him - he put Snedeker into action in the 4th and cemented his 20 bonus points. Even with Furyk's familiar 4th round blow up he had secured the credit to charge ahead and captured his first win of the season. TourBall currently sits at 24th in the standings but with 2 top 10 finishes he has proved that he can hunt with the best of them. Look for similar finishes from TourBall whenever he decides to field a full roster. 

Baby Draw takes his first trip to the podium this season with a fantastic 2nd place finish and his 2nd top 10. He was the only team to take home bonus points from both the 1st and 2nd place finisher as Snedeker and Watney practically gave him his fist top 3 finish. Only making 3 substitutions all week he trusted his instincts and ran with it. Despite his great finish he'll be kicking himself for not getting Furyk out and Holmes in on Sunday as that would have given him the win by plenty. Still, a solid finish for the wily veteran and he now sits on the precipice of the top 10. 

If the Fantasy Golf All-Star ballots were cast now it come as no surprise that Talkeetna98 would be a top vote-getter. He takes home a 3rd place finish at Pebble Beach, edging out his longtime rival Show & Dough, and captures his 3rd top 10 and 2nd top 3 of the season. Despite a hiccup with last week's dropped score he has come alive in the last month after having a sluggish start to the season. He sits in a comfortable 6th for the Winter Segment. 

Notables:

Geeteeo finally got the engine running as he makes his first top 10 appearance. He missed out on some big rounds early but came around with a couple deep red numbers on Saturday and Sunday. He squeaked in with a three way tie for 10th along side veterans Strangers and Freeside Links - both getting their 2nd top 10 in a row. 

Dr. Vijay's Antler Spray kicked the season off to a hot start but seems to have cooled off somewhat over the last two weeks. He had 4 consecutive top 10s to in the first month but has failed to make it the last two weeks. Look for the doctor to find the cure for this lethargy. 

A big surprise to all their fans is the poor start by league veterans Darth Fader, Hill Baas and Night Putting as neither team has succeeded in capturing even a top 10. Perhaps an anomaly but certainly something that worries their fan base. 

Eat My Grind captures his 2nd top 10 by sneaking in Snedeker at the 11th hour to get a T6th place finish. Not a fan of the substitution, Eat My Grind has made only 4 subs total so far this season. He sits middle of the pack at the moment and is primed for a rally. 

Yes it's ladies night and the feeling's right. Tomte and Show&Dough both captured their 3rd top 10 of the year. The ladies of the league are making a move and are chipping away at the standings. Tomte made crucial substitutions to earn a T8th while Show&Dough took 4th but could have won if not for two untimely substitutions in her A group over the weekend. 

The leaderboard's landscape has been evolving constantly as new faces seem to enter the top 10 weekly now. At the top the characters are looking pretty stoic as Gophers, Kikakee, That's Wet and T-Off-Killah all continue to vie for the Winter Segment. This week the boys head to Los Angeles for the Northern Trust Open at Riviera where Sergio will be making his first start of the year. Another deep field makes it anybody's game and with the league's first repeat winner title up for grabs we may see the strong get stronger. But my money's on another dark horse.
